Bianca from California strives to do her best in athletics; she spends almost 15 hours per week playing soccer and participating in gymnastics. During the regular soccer season, she assisted her team in winning 1st place in the region; and at a recent gymnastics competition she won 6th place.
Tyler from West Virginia set a goal to make all A's on his report card throughout the school year. He accomplished this goal.
Mary from Alabama set a goal to improve her gymnastics skills so she can try out for a competitive team. She trained for 3 hours in the morning and three hours in the evening five days a week. She was a level 4 gymnast when she started training and she needed to learn the skills of a level 9 gymnast. She worked very hard and never once said she was going to give up. She has improved her skills and is now close to the level that she needs to be at for the team. She will be competing for a place on the team soon.
Tyana from New Jersey wanted to compete in her school's varsity track meet. She practiced her running at the gym everyday; her best time is one mile in 7 minutes 30 seconds. On one of her last track meets of the season, she won first place overall on the 200meter, and she won 3rd place overall on the 100meter.
Christina from Connecticut wanted to improve her math skills. She took a math class during school break, worked really hard, and excelled in math improving her grades.
Shane from North Carolina got involved in a local event and conquered his fear of performing in front of people. He sang 3 songs and was well received by the audience. He has since been asked to participate in another local event.
Jocelyn from Illinois was one of the youngest members of an Allstar cheerleading team and wanted to improve her tumbling skills to compete along with the older girls. At first she was only able to do a cartwheel. She was determined to learn many of the other tumbling skills. She practiced hard and can now complete a round off, flip flop, and full twist on the tumbling track. She has now become one of the strongest tumblers on the cheerleading team.
Zackary from Florida recently competed in a WordMasters competition, encouraging critical thinking. He participated in three meets with other students and became one of four students to earn a perfect score and became a WordMasters champion.
Alec from Arkansas achieved his goal of becoming a Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do.
Zoey from Pennsylvania competed in the regional and state Spelling Bee and was in the top four at state to make it to the National Bee. She studied hard and competed in the National Spelling Bee, where she placed 18th in the Nation.
Jordan from Michigan competed in the 70 meter dash, 4 by one relay, and long jump. She set a goal in the beginning of the year to break the long jump record of the school which is 14"1. She worked hard throughout the year and at the last meet she broke the school record.
Serena from Texas achieved an athletic goal by competing in the 2006 Junior Olympics. She participated in high jump, long jump, and 100 meter hurdles and came in first place. Her next goal is to work hard to become part of the U.S. Olympic Team in 2012.
James from Delaware set a goal for himself to work on 2 items- get better grades in school and work on improving his time on the track. He worked very hard last school year and received high honors all year. During the summer he decided to step up his efforts on the track. He asked his gym teacher for a workout schedule- he worked on it all summer and when school started he learned he had shaved a minute off his time from last school year. He is proud of his accomplishments and has learned a great lesson- that with determination and hard work goals he can achieve anything!
